For two days, Mariano Rajoy will defend his Government's management in the debate on the state of the nation. Opposite will be PSOE, Izquierda Unida and UPyD, who will accuse the president of abusing the absolute majority and his lack of consensus. Catalonia and terrorism, the other two topics on which the president has dedicated the most time. This is how Moncloa has worked in the parliamentary meeting. As El Confidencial Digital has learned , Mariano Rajoy has prepared his interventions in the Debate throughout the weekend . Two days, Saturday and Sunday, of full-time work so that nothing is left to improvisation. In total, 32 hours of dedication with the help of the Vice President of the Government, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría , the Director of the Presidential Cabinet, Jorge Moragas , and with Pedro Arriola , his advisor. The preparation has consisted of a system of questions and answers , according to the sources consulted. The President of the Government has provided thematic files , prepared through the arguments and reports that the different ministries have sent to Moncloa. No minister has participated directly in these sessions with Mariano Rajoy, the same sources add. The spokesperson for the Popular Parliamentary Group in Congress, Alfonso Alonso , has maintained a direct line throughout the weekend with Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría.
Alonso has not been present, as sources from the Popular Party confirm to ECD , because he has worked this weekend on his intervention on the position of the Popular Party in the Debate. Abuse of the absolute majority During the preparation of the parliamentary Phone Number List debate, the president has thoroughly studied the main issues on which he wants to focus the debate, as well as the main lines of defense in his responses to possible attacks from the opposition. Precisely, one of the accusations that he expects PSOE, Izquierda Unida and UPyD to make against him is the abuse of the absolute majority and their lack of consensus when making decisions. Rajoy, for his part, will reply by listing all the occasions that he has offered his hand to seek agreements. Economy, Catalonia and terrorism The President of the Government will focus the Debate on the economy . The preparations this weekend, as ECD has learned , have focused on breaking down the main achievements in economic matters since he arrived at La Moncloa. However, the Presidency of the Government is aware that the opposition is going to try to focus attention on other issues. Therefore, the president's mandate is clear: ensure that the Debate does not deviate into other topics. In anticipation of the opposition addressing other issues, the president knows that he has other highly topical issues on the table, which he has also prepared. Specifically, two: the problem of the independence of Catalonia and ETA terrorism .
Furthermore, Rajoy takes into account that, during the two days of debate, there will be time for other more sectoral issues to be discussed. For this reason, the president has prepared interventions and responses to possible attacks on issues of Justice , Health and the Wert Education Law .The celebration in Barcelona of the Mobile World Congress, an international fair inaugurated by the prince last weekend, is being used by Catalan independence supporters to carry out their demands. Òmnium Cultural and the Catalan National Assembly have come with banners and leaflets demanding the “right to decide.” As El Confidencial Digital has learned , both associations have sent their 'volunteers' to distribute, among the attendees, pamphlets explaining the sovereignty referendum called by Artur Mas for next November 9. Under the motto “We want to vote”, Òmnium Cultural and the Catalan National Assembly have published different types of brochures to add support to the sovereignty challenge. Those from Òmnium come with a QR code to be able to download videos from the “ What is happening in Catalauña ?” campaign. The ANC has created 20,000 pamphlets in English, French, German and Spanish with the title “From Catalonia to the world.” These brochures state that “today more than 80% of Catalans want to be able to vote on self-determination , making use of their democratic and civil rights.” To provide these figures, they are based on participation data from the demonstrations held in the last two days.
